Our Pink Pig Tradition 2008

As a child, my parents always took my brother & me to ride The Ping Pig ride at Rich's in Atlanta at Christmas time. It was something I eagerly looked forward to each year when Christmas time rolled around. For those who were not as lucky to have had this priviledge, Priscilla The Pink Pig was a train ride on a rail that went around the Rich's store in Atlanta. Priscilla only made her appearance at Christmas time and what a joy it was to go and have a ride. If you can tell by the picture of the original Priscilla, the pig was a very small enclosed cage that the kids ( & some cramped adults) rode in. It was fantastic! What made it even more special was the special "I rode The Pink Pig" sticker that you got after the ride. All of us kids that got the honor, proudly wore our stickers on our coats at school.

The ride went down and was closed for years until Macy's brought it back a few years ago. Being the child-at-heart that I am, I had to take Jackson to ride the new Pink Pig ride when she came back. The ride itself was changed from an enclosed cage to an open train ride. He loved it as much as I did. Every year now around Christmas time, we take off to Macy's at Lennox to see our old friend Priscilla the Pink Pig for our yearly Christmas tradition ride (and to get our coveted sticker). Christmas would not be the same without a visit to The Pink Pig.

For all of you who have children, take them to see Priscilla and take your Christmas ride. You won't be sorry you did. You will be creating a Christmas memory that you and your kids will never forget. Merry Christmas everyone!

What a year! Year & a half actually!

I have been doing some thinking today about family and friends. I guess it's because of the holidays and I'm getting all sentimental. The past year and a half has been horrible in terms of how much loss my family has suffered. Never would I have imagined that I would have lost both parents (within 9 months of each other), the loss of Scott's job, the starting of Scott's new business (which put me back in the work force), Jackson's changing from his old school that he attended since he was 3 to a new school system all together, and the loss of one of the best friends I have ever had. Just trying to hold my head up high can be difficult most days.

On the brighter side, I am so thankful for the family and friends that I do have and that I still have a roof over my head (at least for now). I have the best family in the world. Also, I have reconnected with my best friend from high school. What a holiday treat that is. I plan on taking one day at a time and not taking anything for granted any more. I did too much of that in the past. I advise everyone to do the same.

Well that's enough of being mushy for now. On the brighter side, congrats to my brother Wayne for getting a publishing deal in Nashville for his song writing. He and my sister-in-law are such musical talents. He writes beautiful songs and she sings beautiful songs. If they really loved me, they would have taken me to Vegas this week though. I missed out on going with them to Vegas yet again. Oh well, maybe next time!

Have a good day everybody! Love to all!
